Artist Feature: Miriam Tribe
Miriam Tribe is a self-taught artist whose contemporary figurative drawings and paintings highlight the subtleties of human expression. Ideas of togetherness, introspection and identity are explored through her work, which encompasses charcoal drawing, acrylic painting, mixed media and more. Her latest collection for Carper Contemporary includes work from her STAYING HOME series, a reflection of life during the pandemic as a mother of four and full time artist. Other pieces in this collection are inspired by feelings of unity despite physical isolation, and the unwavering strength of the human connection. “If we’ve learned anything in the last few weeks it’s how connected we all are,” she says. “I always think about that when I do these line drawings, and now more so than ever. For the good and the bad, we are all entangled. We manage the problem as individuals moving together, and draw strength and compaassion from the unity of our shared experience. It’s big and scary and beautiful.”
