Now Curating: WB’s Eatery
Carper Contemporary is now featuring rotating artists at WB’s Eatery! This ongoing curatorial project stems from a shared motivation to provide an outlet for experiencing and exhibiting contemporary art in Ogden, while expanding the ways in which we integrate art into the public realm. WBs Eatery is a wine café and coffeehouse that doubles as an art space, where we’ll feature three to five artists every quarter ranging from painters and sculptors to installation and new media artists. WBs Eatery is located within The Monarch in Ogden’s new Nine Rails Creative District.
Featured Artists: November 1 – January 31
Matthew Choberka is an Ogden-based painter who currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Visual Art & Design at Weber State University. His work, which encompasses oil, acrylic and digital painting, addresses the instability and complexity of the contemporary world.
Alexis Furlong is an Ogden-based artist who creates installations from faux plants and flowers in order to draw attention to the irony of their creation and use for décor, while commenting on artificial objects as a source of vanity and waste in mainstream culture.
Jared Steffenson is a sculptor, installation and digital artist whose work seemingly joins disparate realms through geometric abstraction. He is based in Salt Lake City and is the Curator of Exhibitions at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art.
Justin Watson is a Salt Lake City artist whose video installations deconstruct new media technologies and their social, political and psychological impact on contemporary viewpoints.
